Virat Kohli Lauded for His Batting Prowess

Cricket is indeed the best satta market in India at present. As Sanjay Manjrekar, the former Indian cricketer puts it in a column he recently wrote for Hindustan Times, the Indian cricket team “finally played liked the best team in the tournament” in the Friday tri-series match against West Indies.

Manjrekar was all praise for Virat Kohli, who has “made a habit of compiling some of his best innings” whenever the team is in trouble. Expressing his appreciation of Kohli, who performed well even under pressure in the match against West Indies, he said that Kohli has everything required to become the next greatest batsman of India.

Manjrekar also observed that Delhi has taken over from Mumbai the task of producing great batsmen. Delhi, which first presented Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, has now presented Shikar Dhawan and Virat Kohli, he said. He also observed that these four batsmen are excellent innings players too.

Stating that India is lucky to have so many batsmen, he ascribes it to what he calls the country’s “batting culture.” He cites the example of how any under-15 open selection trials in the country lead to the formation of long queues, the longest of which is always that of batsmen.
