Wim Koevermans, who coaches the Indian national football team, is unhappy about the differences of opinion between IMG-Reliance, the commercial partner of All India Football Federation (AIFF), and the I-League clubs over changes in tournament formats. Koevermans calls it “the biggest threat to Indian football.”
Indian football is going through a troubled phase, making it one of the worst sports markets for satta enthusiasts. According to Koevermans, several national football players have been contracted for the IMG-Reliance tournament and the I-Leagues have refused to sign them for this reason. The contracted football players are therefore unable to get the training they require. The coach is especially agitated because he has to prepare the team for an international friendly against Tajikistan, which is scheduled for August 14.
The coach further stated that if he cannot take players because they aren’t part of an I-League club owing to a situation created by the I-League clubs themselves, it has to be considered a “big threat.”
Koevermans is also unhappy about the fact that the Indian national football team is not playing an adequate number of friendlies. Financial problems forced India to cancel the friendlies they were scheduled to play against Pakistan and Bangladesh in London this June. He pointed out that India can achieve higher rankings only if it plays more matches, adding that he will not be able to do anything if India continues cancelling matches because of financial issues.
Talking about the brighter side of Indian football, Koevermans, who has been coaching the team for the past one year, said that several football players have improved and the team has progressed.
Indian football satta could become lucrative only if the Indian football team improves and qualifiers for major Asian tournaments. Koevermans says that India has plenty of talented football players, but there are no opportunities for them.
